Our new classes focus on skills necessary to be successful in Kindergarten.
How can you get your child to learn new skills from a classroom? Why don’t they pick up new skills from other kids? Are they getting anything from circle time? Watch your child learn those skills necessary to get the most from their classroom. We have a program that will focus on learning to learn. Our three step intervention program will teach your child to communicate, follow directions, and engage in activities in a classroom setting.
Get Ready
Your child will learn necessary communication and behavioral skills such as appropriate vocabulary, making requests, following directions, imitation, game and toy play, turn taking, and manipulation of classroom materials. They will also learn to sit and attend to group activities.
Get Set
Your child will learn to use language in a more sophisticated way with the use of sentences, classification, answering questions, and using and understanding gestures. They will learn to follow group directions and use classroom materials as instructed. They will also learn personal living skills such as fastening and washing hands that are necessary for classroom participation. We also introduce academic material such as letters, numbers and sequencing.
Go!
Our final class will teach your child those skills that are necessary to function successfully in a classroom without paraprofessional support. They will learn to follow multi-step group directions. They will learn social behaviors such as predicting and understanding the behaviors of others that will enable them to build friendships. They will learn to follow classroom and community rules. They will also learn to answer questions from a story and group discussion.
