Treatment Goals
Treatment goals are individually developed from psychological evaluation findings and are continuously modified according to outcome data. This type of individualized treatment promotes speed in acquisition of new adaptive responses. Treatment goals may include (but are not limited to) the following:

Communication Skills

Non-verbal Communication
Picture exchange communication system (PECS), reading writing, using gestures appropriately, etc.

Verbal Communication
Following instructions, making requests, labeling objects, conversing, increasing language complexity, etc.


Social Skills

Imitation
Fine/gross/oral motor skills, play themes, peers, sequences, group activities, etc.

Relationship Development
Peer interaction, play skills, referencing, reading and responding to social cues, etc.

Theory of Mind
Perspective taking, understanding emotions, predicting the behavior of others, etc.

Group Interaction
Classroom involvement, participation, learning skills from a group setting, using appropriate behavior, etc.

Rule Governed Behavior
Adhering to routines and schedules, responding correctly to environmental changes, etc.



Home and Community skills

Daily Living
Toileting, dressing, grooming, chores, etc.

Task Performance
Regulating work speed, following written and verbal directions, task completion, requesting asstance/materials, and adhering to time limits, etc.

Food/Eating
Increasing compliance and acceptance of a variety of foods, using utensils, amount of intake, sitting at table, etc.

Sleep
Sleeping in own bed, going to bed on time, bed wetting, etc.

Community
Appropriate public behavior, elopement, understanding money and time, safety, etc.

Mobility
Gross and fine motor functioning
