Is you organization interested in hosting one of our seminars?

Behavioral Building Blocks is offering a low cost way for your organization to get staff trained.  Your organization can host the seminar and help with advertising and your staff can attend for no charge (with a minimum or 25 paying attendees).  A flat rate can also be determined for organizations wishing to have the seminar closed to public registration.  We can also develop course material to meet the specific needs of your organization.  Call us for more details.

An Introduction to Applied Behavior Analysis
This workshop introduces attendees to the basic principles and procedures used by Clinical Behavior Analysts to conduct analyses and develop treatment programs. A variety of data collection procedures will be reviewed. Attendees will learn the purposes and procedures of conducting Functional Analyses. The pros and cons of commonly used treatment procedures will be discussed. The workshop will conclude with discussion on the application of skills in “real life” settings.

Techniques and Applications of Trial Teaching
This workshop clarifies common misconceptions about what trial teaching is and is not. Attendees will learn how human behavior is shaped, maintained, and decreased. Trial-based techniques reviewed: establishing criteria, presenting instruction, applying reinforcement, and prompting responses. Additional information presented will include collecting data, controlling the environment, and transferring skills to the natural setting.
 

How to Get Your Children to Do What You Want Them to Do
In this workshop attendees learn that they can effectively change a child’s behavior through the application of reinforcement procedures. Emphasis on developing clear communication, consistency, and positive interactions will assist attendees in developing the skills needed to achieve desired behavior change.
 

Parenting a Special Needs Child

Attendees will learn practical information including time management techniques, maintaining a positive environment, methods for reducing stress, and implementing relaxation procedures. Workshop will be presented in both lecture and demonstration form. Methods for accessing information, support, and community resources will also be covered.
 

Overcoming Issues Related to Eating
Attendees will be introduced to variety of procedures that can be used to effectively shape desired eating behavior. Attendees will also learn how environmental conditions affect eating behavior and be provided examples of how environmental changes can be made. Further workshop topics include teaching independent eating skills, staying seated during meals, table manners, and other basic mealtime behaviors.
 

Toilet Training for Children with Developmental Disabilities
Attendees will be exposed to a variety of behavioral methods for toilet training. Each method will be discussed individually and attendees learn how to determine how to select methods based on individual cases as well as develop customized toileting plans. The workshop will conclude with a “break out session” where practice, discussion, and feedback will be provided.
